From Margaritas to the Grand National Roadster Show

This is the story of my last week, going backwards, from today back to last Saturday. Peter is here visiting from New Zealand so we all met up for lunch at dad's shop. Here's Peter between Art Chrisman's #25 dragster and the Hustler I, (which both could possibly be sold, but Peter is not the buyer).

The guys already working on the roadster for this year's Speedweek in August. They installed new seatbelts.

Last night was "Margarita Night"- the condensed version, only 10 people. Carl fired up the new "Margarator" - the super margarita blender that holds 1 gallon of margarita and keeps it cold. Me and the boys.

A short video clip from the gathering.

The Margarator!

Last weekend was the Grand National Roadster show held at the Fairplex in Pomona. The show moved from Oakland a few years ago and is a huge hit down here. There were nine buildings full of the top hot rods, street rods, race cars and contenders for "America's Most Beautiful Roadster", along with vendor booths and all the top hot rod builders booths.

This room is full of Pete and Jake's cars.

The is the California Kid with Jake's '34 Coupe.

Limefire.

Carl with Jimmy shine and Jimmy's childhood buddy.

Painter Phill's roadster.

Which came first? The roadster or the sculpture?

This is the winning car. 2010 America's Most Beautiful Roadster.

This is Jerry Magnuson's car. Designed by Chip Foose.

George Poteet's.

Alex Xydias and Billy Gibbons.

Billy Gibbons getting wired for the show with Pete C.

They were filming a segment for "Car Crazy" with host Barry McGuire. Interviewing Alex, Bruce Meyer, Pete C. and Billy Gibbons.
Here we have Pat Kinne with Pete and Alex. (photo from PK collection)

Here is Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard, she is sitting behind the table.

This is the blonde guy from that show.

There were some pretty nice customs, shining like jewelry.

The trunk lining and body trim was a dull lavender/mauve color. I loved it on the yellow car. Carl thought it looked horrible.

This car is massive and beautiful.

The day before the show, Friday, I drove down to visit dad and Art and Mike. We went to lunch at the Red Hill Cafe.

This is Art's Ranchero.

Art with his cars.

Art and Roy discussing Weed's streamliner.

Art's shop just finished this red roadster. It looks cool next to the blue one.

Here is dad in his shop.

That was my last week in pictures. Actually on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I did nothing but work on a new website all day. hotrods2die4.com

Like I said, I'm keeping busy.
